CLASS OF 1948 SHIPMATE COLUMN
MARCH - 2019

A while back I received the following refreshing message from Bob McClinton:

The other day I saw an amazing football game:

1) The player's hair fit under their helmets.
2) No tattoos could be seen.
3) There were no outlandish end zone celebrations.
4) There was no taunting.
5) Opposition players helped each other up after a play.
6) Footballs were not spiked or left for the referee to retrieve; they were handed to the referee.
7) No one took a knee on the sidelines.
9) Players stood at attention during the playing of the national anthem.
10) It's great to watch an Army Navy game

Received the following from Helen Orr:

“I have lost my ‘48 USNA miniature ring with blue sapphire and would like to buy one if any of the class has one lying around that hasn’t been passed on to a family member. In fact I would like more than one to pass on to my daughters.

Helen Orr, widow of Frank Wylie Orr"

Scribes Note: If anyone has a miniature ring, not necessarily with a blue sapphire, lying around, please contact Helen at [email protected].
Since the last column I have received word of the loss of one Wife:
Marlyn Buck (Wife of Edward Buck) 11/20/18

In the last Shipmate column I reported that my friend, Jean, and I traveled to New England for an Autumn Color tour followed by a 3-day visit to Annapolis.  I am happy to report that during the first week of November that Jean and I are still traveling.  This time it was a Holland America cruise to the Mexican Riviera which included ports of call to Mazatlán, La Paz and Puerto Vallarta.

Enjoying
Enjoying a cool one in La Paz, Mexico

The deadline for submission of this column is December 27, two days after Xmas.  Most of you probably have some great Xmas experiences along with photos that you may wish to share with your classmates and friends.

And don’t forget to send us any news that you would like to share with your Classmates and friends.
